April is National Poetry Month

April is National Poetry Month, and Nanaimo is jumping right in on the first week. I hope you can join us. It’s all absolutely free!

Thursday, April 7, 7:00-8:00 pm: 3 Poets & A Dinner Plate at Wellington Library, 3032 Barons Road. An hour of poetry readings with David Fraser, Leanne McIntosh and Kim Goldberg. More info here:

Sunday, April 10, 1:00-2:30 pm: Poem Gallery Unveiling and Readings at Harbourfront Library downtown. More than twenty local poets are included in the library’s latest Poem Gallery. And many of them will be on hand to read their selection on display. More info here:

And coming up in May, you won’t want to miss Nanaimo’s first Mayworks Poetry Festival featuring Kate Braid, Kim Goldberg, Wendy Morton and David Fraser. Readings take place on two consecutive Saturdays: May 14 and May 21 from 1:00-4:00 pm both days at the Nanaimo Museum downtown. More info here:
